Though I have done trips to the Boundary Waters before, I hadn't used Ely Outfitting Company until this trip and was really glad I did. They were amazingly helpful in the planning of the trip, offering great options and really listening to what I was trying to accomplish on this trip. Their equipment was in great shape, newer, lightweight and exactly what they said it would be. Even their bunkhouse was clean, well appointed and comfortable. I will use them again for sure.
Ely Outfitting Company provided a great service for our family camping trip. The equipment was clean and in great condition and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The only issue we had was with the length of the portage and having to carry all of our equipment and canoes for over two miles, since we had to make multiple trips. Definitely recommend bringing boots and water shoes for swapping out between canoeing and hiking during the portage.
Outstanding 5 day fly in - paddle out adventure! From beginning to end - excellent attention to detail, conscientious and safety conscious guide. Informative and educational journey. Mom & Dad in one canoe with guide paddling with our 12 year old son in the other. Gear was either new or like new. Campfire food delicious. Couldn't get any better!
I ordered and paid for the canoes for our trip online, which was quick and easy to do. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and they helped us right away. We were in and out within the course of an hour. The guy helping us even stayed past closing time for us. If you're looking for a canoe rental company that won't make you deal with any shenanigans then this is the place. Just grab the equipment and head out. If you're inexperienced, they'll walk you through everything, too. I will be looking here first for my next BWCA trip.
My husband and I canoed the Boundary waters for 5 days in September 2017. Ely Outfitting Company was extremely helpful from the beginning. When I was researching outfitters they were the first to respond. They answered every question and always called me back right away. They even checked in on us as we got closer to our trip. They made suggestions and offered advice. They were patient with changes we made. They were excited for us. They listened. The gear we rented was above par. We stayed in the bunkhouse prior to and after our trip. The bunkhouse was comfortable and very convenient. Thank you Ely Outfitting Company!
